A third generation warlock, Keyran Della Torre was born on the shores of Lake Avernus in southern Italy near one of the most widely-used magical nexus points between Earth and other dimensions. He was born under the sign of Scorpio at the same time as the dawning of the Sun and the helical rise of Antares; the exact the moment when the star, also known as Alpha Scorpii, the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpio, also rose over the horizon.

Although the circumstances of his birth were unusual, it would not have distinguished him from anyone else unless the Della Torre family had not belonged to an ancient secret society called the Astrum Argentum, which UNTIL’s Department of Supernatural Affairs believes is an offshoot of the Trismegistus Council. Della Torre’s parents performed a sacred ritual at the exact moment of his birth linking him symbiotically to Alpha Scorpii.

While unclear what his parents’ motives were, the ritual granted Della Torre an astonishing assortment of as-yet unquantifiable magical abilities. It is theorized by UNTIL specialists in Superhuman Psychology that the mystical connection between Della Torre and Antares is perhaps the reason why his personality even today vacillates between compassion and irascibility.

It took him years of disciplined practice under his parents’ tutelage to bring the mysterious cosmic energies he was the conduit for under control. At seventeen, Della Torre’s parents perished in a cataclysmic magical battle between the Astrum Argentum and the malevolent Circle of the Scarlet Moon, in which both organizations suffered heavy losses. Upon reaching young adulthood, Della Torre traveled the world in the hopes of discovering his destiny. After learning about himself and the world around him for five years, he felt the stirrings of great evil that he had to stand against. Taking the name Antares, Della Torre faced many arcane threats alone until he met and joined the newly-formed Squadron Supreme.

Addendum: The subject was apparently killed in action during the conflict the Squadron Supreme refers to as Independence Day under unknown circumstances.
